Celluloid Green Pearl Guitar Or Bass Pick - 0.96 mm Heavy Gauge - 330 Medium Home Plate Shape

These heavy gauge Celluloid guitar picks are Green Pearl colored with no printing or logo on them. Celluloid picks are an industry standard and have been the most popular pick material worldwide for many decades. These picks are an excellent choice for those who like the feel of Celluloid picks.

Home Plate (sometimes called Home Base or Pentagon) style picks have been around for decades and are traditionally one of the most popular pick shapes. The 330 Medium Home Plate shape is the middle size in Exotic Plectrum's Home Plate pick lineup. The 330 is notably smaller than a standard 351 pick, and offers a slightly finer and more pointed tip profile and pentagon body shape that some players prefer. The overall size is fairly comparable to a standard size Jazz pick.

Relative to other Home Plate style picks the 330 is wider than the Small Home Plate and slightly less tall, while featuring a similar tip profile. The Large Home Plate is the same width as the Medium, but taller and with a more rounded tip profile. Home Plate style picks have been the plectrum of choice for numerous rock legends through the years, so why not give them a try and see if they suit your playing style.

Start exploring new tones with these Celluloid guitar picks today, because the simplest and most inexpensive way to change your tone is to change your pick.

About The Material These Picks Are Made From:

Celluloid was invented in 1856 and first patented in 1869. It was used as an ivory substitute and later the main use was in the movie, photography and film industries, which used only celluloid film until the 1950s.

Celluloid is made from cellulose, one of the most abundant raw materials in the world, and was first used for guitar picks as early as 1902. This was to provide a more economical alternative to traditional, and expensive, tortoise shell plectrums which had been in use virtually as long as string instruments have existed.

Celluloid closely mimics the tonal qualities of a genuine tortoise shell pick, but with greater durability, and at a far lower cost. Celluloid can be made in virtually any color or shape, and can be opaque or transparent, which allows many interesting colors and designs to be created. Celluloid ultimately became the go to choice for making guitar picks due to its value, tonal qualities, durability, and the wide variety of designs possible.

Today celluloid also remains in use as a finish coating for musical instruments, especially accordions and guitars. Celluloid is very robust and easy to mold in difficult forms, and has great acoustic performance as cover for wooden frames since it does not block wood's natural pores.
